Description

Nexium 24-Hour Acid Reducer Capsules contain esomeprazole magnesium, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is designed for the treatment of frequent heartburn (occurring 2 or more days per week). Unlike antacids that provide quick but short-term relief, Nexium works at the source to reduce acid production, helping provide long-lasting control of symptoms when taken daily. The delayed-release capsules protect the medication from stomach acid so it can be absorbed effectively and work throughout the day.

Uses

Treats frequent heartburn (2 or more days per week)
Reduces excess stomach acid production
Helps prevent acid reflux symptoms
Supports healing of acid irritation in the esophagus (as directed by a physician)

Dosage

Adults 18 years and older: Take 1 capsule (20 mg) once daily before eating in the morning
Take for a 14-day course; do not repeat more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor
Swallow whole; do not crush or chew
Not intended for immediate heartburn relief
